The Illinois Jacquet Orchestra was a post-Eckstine try at large group bebop. Davis gets no solo space on this date. Navarro has a terrific solo on "Jivin' with Jack the Bellboy," a tune written for Detroit disk jockey Ed McKenzie of station WJBK. McKenzie was the MC at Jacquet's concert at the Paradise Theatre in February. The group seems to have been very short-lived, and I have found no firm evidence of any other live dates.
