The date and venue for this performance is a mystery. It is not from the
December 7 session recorded in the Buttes Chaumont Studio and included in Jean-Christophe
Averty's Au Clair de la Lune, broadcast on Christmas evening 1957. The
closing applause -- which may well be spliced in -- suggests a large venue with
an appreciative audience. Davis solos for one-and-a-half choruses, Wilen and Urtreger
are given a half-chorus each, and the ensemble trade eight-bar passages with Clarke
for a chorus before the closing statement.
