Parker joined the first incarnation of the Modern Jazz Quartet, who would record their first LP for Prestige on December 22.

The longer announcements are from a second master, probably recorded by Chan Richardson. The quality of this recording is considerably better than that of the issued versions, but the tunes are incomplete: from "How High the Moon," the section from 2:55-4:01 (solos by Jackson and Lewis) is missing; and from "Embraceable You," 1:53-2:25 (most of Jackson's solo).
