The playing on both of these tunes is tentative and exploratory, as if Hancock were
trying to interest Davis in the compositions. Benson and Davis play only on "I Have
a Dream," on which Davis has a nice solo.
"Speak Like a Child" is the title tune on a 1968 Blue Note album (which also includes
"Riot" and "The Sorcerer"); "I Have a Dream" was not recorded until Hancock's album
The Prisoner (April 1969). The albums were released in 1969 and 1970, respectively.
