"Hip Skip" and "What They Do" were first recorded in the studio on November 6, though
the former was performed live in August at Paul's Mall in Boston.
I used to list this session as from November 8-9 (Friday-Saturday), but according
to the Bottom Line online archive (http://bottomlinearchive.com/chronology_1974) Davis performed
there on November 3-4 and again on November 18.
The Octet was quite busy during this period: Indianapolis Convention Center (October 13);
Allen Theatre, Cleveland (November
1); Bottom Line Club, New York (November 3-4); Club Etcetera, Washington (November
11-14); The Stables, East Lansing (December 11); Bottom Line Club, New York (November
18); Smiling Dog Saloon, Cleveland (December 12-15).
Thanks to Alexander Keth and Jan Lohmann for help with this session.
