The Parker-Gillespie group was booked at Town Hall along with the Errol Garner Trio,
Don Byas, Buck Clayton, Pearl Bailey, and others. Byas plays here only on "Bebop,"
and Catlett replaces Roach on "Hot House" and "52nd Street Theme." Once again Uptown
Records has done an outstanding job with this material.
Parker's brief quotation of the melody of "Donna Lee" is interesting. I am grateful
to John Griffin for help with this session.
