Davis was nearing the bottom with his heroin addiction, but he still does a nice
job with "Move" and "Lady Bird"; on both of these numbers Eddie Davis and Nicholas
have some nice two-saxophone exchanges. Mingus was in New York looking for work,
having quit the Red Norvo Trio.
