Jazz Masters 006 and Minotauro CD 1 include an incomplete version (13:46) of "Bitches
Brew" plus the rest of the concert. The tunes are correctly listed on Minotauro;
on Jazz Masters they are listed as: "It's About That Time," "I Fall in Love Too
Easily," "Sanctuary," "Bitches Brew" (29:37). JM 006 also includes an excerpt of
"Funky Tonk" (recorded in Paris, October 23, 1971), which is listed as "Masqualero."
The Davis Sextet maintained a busy touring schedule throughout this period: Cellar
Door, Washington (January 12-17); Spectrum, Philadelphia (January 18); Schwab Auditorium,
Pennsylvania State University (February 14); Hill Auditorium, Ann Arbor (February
21); Fillmore East, New York (March 6-7); Fillmore West, San Francisco (April 9-12);
Shelly's Manne-Hole, Los Angeles (April 14-26); Both/And Club, San Francisco (April
28).
In a Down Beat review (May 14, 1970), Bert Stratton found the audience
wildly enthusiastic: "In Ann Arbor, Miles' performance received an overwhelming
reception -- far out, freaky, heavy, and every other catch phrase was thrown around.
A standing ovation was assured."
In addition to all this touring, Davis had various groups in the studio throughout
the first half of 1970 -- fourteen dates in the first half of the year!
