The exact personnel on the rejected title is not known.
The drum part on "Cobra" is probably played by Marcus Miller.
The basic track was recorded at LeGonks West Studio in Los Angeles on November 3, 1988 -- while Davis was touring Europe.
Davis, Kenny Garrett and Joey De Francesco overdubbed on a later date in New York.
Davis had throat surgery in January and was hospitalized. A planned winter tour was canceled.
He returned home from the hospital on January 29 and spent the next few months
recuperating.
Davis participated in several rehearsals in late March with Kenny Garrett, Kei Akagi,
John Beasley, Joe "Foley" McCreary, Benny Rietveld, Ricky Wellman, and Munyungo Jackson.
According to George Cole (The Last Miles, p. 392), "the band rehearsed together
for around two weeks."
