These are the only recordings of Parker and Gordon together.
Sometime in October 1945 "The Charlie Parker Combo" with Miles Davis, Gordon, Thompson,
Leonard Gaskin, and Stan Levey opened at the Spotlite Club on 52nd Street.
The tune "20th Century Blues" is often credited to Noel Coward, who did publish a tune
with that title in 1931. The Apollo label credits Thompson as composer, and the tune
listed here bears little resemblance to the Coward version. I'm grateful to Nick
Rossi for alerting me to this matter.
