This session was recorded for a Norman Granz anthology called The Jazz Scene.
It has been claimed (e.g. by Phil Schaap) that the big band was taped first and
Parker's part was overdubbed at a later date (fall 1948); but Al Porcino, trumpeter
in the Hefti Orchestra, denies this.
Parker left New York on December 18 or 19.
