Birdland opened on December 15, 1949; these recordings were made a couple months later by Jimmy Knepper and Don Lanphere. They consist only of themes, Parker solos, and exchanges in most cases.

The fragment of "Ruby My Dear" that is spliced onto "What's New?" (second set) is not listed on Philology or Ember.
