In the first set "Turnaroundphrase" and "Tune in 5" are played simultaneously. In
addition, in the second set Lucas plays a guitar riff reminiscent of "Willie Nelson"
while Cosey and the rhythm section play "Ife." "Untitled original 750505" (first
performed in the studio on May 5) was a standard set closer during May-July 1975.
Davis occasionally plays organ during this tune.
Davis suffered from serious health problems (hips, ulcers, drug use) throughout
the summer, but the Septet continued to tour: Paul's Mall, Boston (April 28-May
3); Just Jazz, Philadelphia (May 12-17); Oakland University, Rochester MI (May 24);
Bottom Line Club, New York (June 10-12); Avery Fisher Hall, New York (July 1); Central
Park, New York (September 5).
