According to Robert Irving, Davis played keyboards because he was afraid to play trumpet (probably because of embouchure problems). Evans is not listed on the original cover as participating on "Shout."

A remixed version of "Shout" exists (see May 6, 1981).

Teo Macero's private session sheets list the dates as May 5 (for "Solar Energy") and August 2 (for "Shout"). Another sheet lists the date as June 14. The June 4 date is written on the tape box.

On the Japanese bootleg CDR Comeback Sessions, Vol. 3: Birth of the Legend (So What SW 193/94) the titles listed as "Shout" are actually "Mrs. Slurpey" from May 5 (remade on February 27, 1981).
