This date needs further research. Claude Schlouch's Bud Powell discography places
these items in fall 1945, but this seems unlikely, not least because at the time
he was recovering from a head injury and subsequent breakdown. The recording, one
of three surviving from Milton Green's original acetates, was made at Green's
studio in 1947.
Eager and Parker trade horns on "Swapping Horns," which sounds like it's based
on "Blue 'n' Boogie," and Roach plays drums. He may also be the drummer on "Original
Horns." Morty Yoss is the drummer on "All the Things You Are."
As is customary, the Uptown CD does a terrific job with notes, remastering, and
contemporary photos and ads.
