"Minnie" is based on "Lovin' You" by Richard Rudolph and Minnie Riperton, a tune
which appeared on the latter's Perfect Angel album in 1974. It also appears
as the title tune on Al Foster's Mr. Foster (Better Days (J) YX-7599),
recorded in August 1979 -- which makes Sony's choice of "Mr. Foster" for the title
of a completely different tune recorded in September 1973 (and which also had a
perfectly good title, "For Dave") particularly silly.
"Untitled original 750505" quickly entered the live book and was a standard set
closer during May-July 1975. Davis occasionally plays organ during this tune. The
influence of Jimi Hendrix is evident.
