The accompaniment on all listed versions of "Time After Time" is the same, but Davis' tpt solos are from different overdubs.

The radio promotional 45 rpm single (Columbia 38-04829) has the same version of "Time after Time" (3:36) on both sides. CAS 2024 (matrix XSM 173229) includes both long and short versions of "Time After Time."

On Columbia CK-84784 the date for "Time After Time" is listed as September 18, 1984; on Castle CCSLP 243 the date is listed as January 1985.

Steve Thornton recalls that this tune was his maiden voyage with Davis (quoted in George Cole, The Last Miles, p. 161); he does not play on "Heart to Heart."

The music is unslated, but according to what is written on the tape boxes, eight takes of "Heart To Heart" were recorded. On the four reels there are six fragments of varying lengths that include Davis on tpt.

Reel #1 (33:18) is explicitly listed as a rehearsal (rhythm section only: g, el-b, d, plus synth on few segments); but the fragments/segments on the following two reels suggest further rehearsals.

Reel #2 (33:16) contains more fragments with the rhythm section (again, g, el-b, d plus synth on most fragments).

Reel #3 (30:01) contains music by synth, g, el-b, and d; and Davis' tpt is audible at 0:08-1:41, 12:40-16:38, and 16:44-29:40. Written on the tape box: "0000 tk 1 / 1900 tk 2 (maybe) / tk 3 1900-2700 / tk 4 2750 end on next reel"

Reel #4 (33:24) contains music by synth, g, el-b, and d; and Davis' tpt is audible from 0:00-9:29, 11:52-15:57, and 16:44-23:21. Written on the tape box: "end of tk 4 – 1000 / tk 5 1300-1620 / tk 6 1706-2330 / tk 7 2350- ? / tk 8 ? - end"
