Davis' tpt solo was recorded at one of the Amandla sessions. According to Marcus Miller: "I used discarded phrases from the Amandla session to create the part played on "Rampage." Jason (Miles) had the phrases in his sampler left over from one of the Amandla songs. Sal Marquez played some additional trumpet to fill the gaps."
