Both titles appear on the compilation Back on the Block, released in November 1989. Davis performs on only two of the numbers, "Birdland," where he is overdubbed on Weather Report's "Birdland," and "Jazz Corner of the World."

The recording date for "Birdland" is listed as August 1, but on that date Davis was in the middle of a European tour. Davis and several other musicians were probably overdubbed in October. October 1989 was listed as the recording date for "Jazz Corner of the World."

Davis was interviewed while participating in the recording session. Part of this interview was included in Time Warner's video Listen Up: The Lives of Quincy Jones. It seems likely that Davis' tpt was overdubbed on the day of the interview.

Davis also plays on the four-CD set Q: The Musical Biography of Quincy Jones (Rhino R2 74363).
