This venue and location for this concert is sometimes given as Ludwigshalle, Ludwigsburg, but according to a critical review in the Mannheimer Morgen (the newspaper for Mannheim and Ludwigshafen), the Davis group performed one show at 8:00 pm on November 2 to a small audience at the Ebert Halle in Ludwigshafen. The Davis Septet took part in the "Newport Jazz Festival in Europe" tour produced by George Wein. The itinerary was as follows:
